Having participated in five World Cups between 2006 and 2022, we’re excited to welcome Andrés Guardado as Betway’s brand ambassador across Mexico and Latin America.
Known affectionately as ”El Principito” amongst fans, for his battling leadership qualities on the pitch, Guardado represented Mexico at five FIFA World Cups between 2006 and 2022, and remains ”El Tri’s” most-capped player with over 180 appearances for his country.
Guardado made his senior debut for Atlas in August 2005, before going on to earn his first international cap just four months later in a 2-0 friendly win over Hungary. Following his impressive performances for club and country, La Liga side Deportivo La Coruña moved quickly in the summer of 2007 to secure his services, making him, at that time, the most expensive Mexican footballer in history. He remained in Europe for 17 years, going on to play for Valencia, PSV Eindhoven, and Real Betis, before returning to Mexico for one season with León, prior to his retirement from football in 2025.
Ricardo Chávez, Betway Mexico’s Marketing Manager, said: “Andrés Guardado represents consistency, leadership, and excellence. His incredible contribution to Mexican football, particularly on the international stage, makes him a perfect ambassador for the Betway brand as we continue to grow our presence globally. The partnership comes at an exciting time for international football, as global interest continues to build around the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, for which Mexico are one of the host nations.
We are thrilled to be working closely with Andrés, particularly during 2026, which will be a historical year for Mexican football, and we look forward to bringing fans closer to the action through his insight and exclusive content.”
Andrés Guardado said:“I am very happy to join Betway, a brand with international presence and a strong commitment to excellence. My time in European football allowed me to understand the importance of professionalism at the highest level, and today I am proud to represent those values in Mexico and Latin America. Looking ahead to the 2026 World Cup, it will be a privilege to share my vision of the game and bring fans closer to the action.”
