Betway to bring horse racing back to Towcester Racecourse

Betway has announced a landmark partnership with Towcester Racecourse owners Orchestrate, paving the way for the return of National Hunt racing to the historic Northamptonshire venue at the start of the 2027/28 jumps season.

As part of the agreement, the Super Group-owned brand will become Principal Strategic Partner of the racecourse, which will officially be renamed Betway Towcester Racecourse. The partnership represents a first for UK horse racing, with Betway also becoming the exclusive betting partner across all fixtures at the track.

Extensive course and facility refurbishment works, worth in excess of £2m, are already underway, with Point-to-Point fixtures expected to serve as a curtain-raiser ahead of the return of official National Hunt racing in Autumn 2027.

The revival of the historic racecourse, which famously hosted AP McCoy’s 4,000th career winner in November 2013, will also be documented in a fly-on-the-wall series scheduled for release in 2027.

Betway ambassador and seven-time Irish Champion National Hunt jockey Paul Townend will play a role in the return of racing, with a focus on jockey welfare, including course layout and weighing room facilities.

Lewis Knowles, PR Manager at Betway, said:
Towcester has such a rich history within British racing, and we’re delighted to be partnering with the team there to bring horse racing back to what is such an iconic racecourse.

As Principal Strategic Partners, we plan to offer a truly unique experience for racegoers, owners, trainers, and jockeys at Betway Towcester Racecourse. The hard work is already well underway as the team prepare the track and facilities for racing’s return.

We’re also looking forward to documenting this journey through a fly-on-wall series to be released in 2027.’’

Our thanks go to the team at Orchestrate for all their hard work in making this partnership possible, and we can’t wait to play our part in this exciting new chapter for the racecourse.’’

Mike Davis, Chairman of Orchestrate, commented:
“We are thrilled to welcome Betway as principal strategic partner of the refurbished racecourse. It has always been our ambition to bring horse racing back to Towcester for the local community and fans of the sport. This partnership turns that vision into a reality.

We are now working with the BHA to secure the necessary racecourse licences, to enable us to race in the Autumn of 2027.  We have been able to secure six fixtures initially with the help of Martin Cruddace at ARC. It is amazing to see the racing community all working together to promote the sport.”
