This January, DigiOutreach was proud to support two local charities – The Cape Town Society for the Blind and the Volunteer Wildfire Services (VWS). Our involvement came at an opportune time, as the teams worked tirelessly on the front lines, battling the devastating wildfires sweeping across the Western Cape.
With extreme weather conditions and ongoing fire outbreaks threatening lives, homes, and natural ecosystems, the VWS plays a critical role in protecting both people and the environment. Our donation recognizes their courage, expertise and unwavering commitment during this crisis.
Who are the Volunteer Wildfire Services
The VWS is a highly respected, Cape Town based non‑profit organization made up of trained volunteers who respond to wildfires across the Western Cape. Working in close partnership with local authorities, VWS assists with wildfire suppression, preventative measures and post‑fire recovery efforts.
Their teams are often first on scene, operating in dangerous conditions to contain fires, protect communities and preserve biodiversity. Beyond emergency response, the VWS also focuses on training, public awareness, and preparedness, building resilience long before fires ignite.
Supporting frontline responses
Our January donation directly supports the VWS’s operational readiness and the volunteers who put themselves in harm’s way to protect others. Here’s how our contribution is helping make an impact:
Proudly standing with those who protect our communities
Wildfires are not only an environmental threat, they are a human one too. Behind every fireline is a volunteer choosing service over their own safety. Through our donation, DigiOutreach stands in solidarity with those who selflessly protect the Western Cape during one of its most challenging seasons.
