DigiOutreach spreads a hand of support this World Braille Literacy Month

In January, DigiOutreach was proud to support an organization that has been changing lives for nearly a century by partnering with the Cape Town Society for the Blind (CTSB). Their mission – raising awareness around visual impairment while providing essential support to individuals who are blind or visually impaired.

Our DigiOutsource colleagues came together to learn more how we can all play a role to empower members of the blind and visually impaired community to live more independent, confident and fulfilled lives.

About the Cape Town society for the blind and visually impaired
The CTSB is a long-standing non-profit organization with a range of specialized services that improve the quality of life of people who are blind or visually impaired. Through skills development, rehabilitation programmes, employment opportunities and social support, CTSB helps individuals gain independence in their daily lives.

Their work goes beyond basic assistance; it focuses on long-term empowerment, inclusion and restoring confidence. From vocational training to assistive technology and counselling services, CTSB provides holistic support that enables people to participate fully in their communities and the economy.

For many, CTSB is more than a support hub for support services. It also acts a community where people can rediscover their sense of belonging, develop and grow, and find a renewed purpose.

Empowering independence in our day-to-day
It’s easy to appreciate that a loss of vision can have a significant impact on a person’s sense of self as well as creating daily barriers that many people with functioning sight take for granted. By supporting the CTSB, our teams had an opportunity to reflect on the importance of accessibility, inclusion and healthcare equity for those living with visual impairments.

Our January donation aimed to strengthen programmes that promote independence, skills development and emotional wellbeing. This includes:

  • Skills development: Supporting training programmes that equip individuals with practical and vocational skills.
  • Assistive resources: Helping improve access to tools and technology that enhance independence.
  • Emotional and social support: Encouraging confidence, connection and community integration.

We’re proud that our partnership with the CTSB again reflects DigiOutreach’s ongoing commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and promoting inclusive development.
