We’re excited that Betway has signed seven-time Irish National Hunt champion jockey Paul Townend as an ambassador.
As part of his role, Paul will be sharing his insights ahead of all the biggest meetings and races throughout the National Hunt season on both sides of the Irish Sea. He’ll also showcase his views on our Betway Insider blog alongside existing write-ups from ITV commentator Richard Hoiles. As a four-time Cheltenham Gold Cup winner, Townend joins our impressive list of ambassadors which includes football superstar Thierry Henry and cricket legend Graeme Smith.
Betway were previous sponsors of the feature race of Wednesday’s Cheltenham Festival card, the Champion Chase, which Paul won twice on Energumene. He also won the Grand National at Aintree on I Am Maximus in 2024, following on from his success partnering the horse to victory in the Irish version one year earlier.
Betway Group, Head of UK, Lloyd Hartman, said:
“We’re delighted to bring Betway’s customers closer to the action with in-depth insight from a jockey right at the top of his game. Paul will be a great addition to our stable of stars and we look forward to an exciting remainder of what’s promising to be a great National Hunt season.”Townend commented:
“I’m delighted to be joining the team as a Betway ambassador. They have a long-standing presence in racing and a real commitment to the sport. I’m looking forward to sharing my thoughts with their customers throughout the season. With the Christmas festivals approaching, the season is really starting to gather momentum, it’s an exciting time to be involved!”
Paul’s first blog will appear on Betway Insider on Friday 19 December.
