Clara Bagdadi water project

This November, Betway Africa was proud to support the installation of another water system in the Clara Bagdadi village. Now, powered by solar, the clean water is readily available to the 4,700 residents of the village.

Matilda Mutanguha from Innovation Africa said, “I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the Betway team’s visit to your wonderful project at Clara Bagdadi village. As you were able to witness firsthand, the communities are continuing to thrive thanks to your immense generosity.”

The Clara Bagdadi village is an hour’s drive from Hoedspruit in Mpumalanga, a rural part of the South African province. The community’s only access to water has previously been through polluted streams and ponds shared with livestock. To get clean water, people had to walk many kilometres and often faced safety concerns while making the trek. On top of that, there was still a risk that the water contained water-borne diseases that made many people unwell.

Nomvelo Buthelezi from Betway Africa said, “We believe that every South African should have access to quality drinking water and for us as a brand to play our part in providing this community with clean water is truly special. We’ll continue to make a difference wherever we can in the rainbow nation and hope to do many more initiatives like this one with Innovation Africa in 2025 and beyond.”

Powered through the Betway Cares Foundation and partnering with Innovation Africa, this is the third water project Betway Africa has contributed to, adding to our support in the Matshamhlophe village and KwaDenge village in KwaZulu-Natal, each costing over R1.5m. This forms part of our commitment to uplift the lives of South Africans, providing them with the most basic of needs and improving their lives.
